Curriculum

Year one

Provides a rigorous grounding in economic theory and quantitative methods, and emphasises the relevance of such methods to the study of economic questions of cultural, political and social importance. This is achieved by including the compulsory modules that explore current economic issues and perspectives.

Year two

Focuses on the continued development and use of skills and knowledge in core disciplines of economics (micro and macro) as well as quantitative methods. Major sub-disciplines such as: financial and monetary economics, international trade and development, and public and labour economics are also covered.

Year three

Examines the major themes in economics in substantially greater detail. Students are given the opportunity to follow different learning pathways through combinations of advanced or specialised modules that build on the major sub-discipline topics in year two.
